Fading Nails

Image
FADING NAILS Yesterday I searched what colours were in, and by the looks of things it's pastel. I don't have many pastel colours or shades so I thought I'd be valiant and  MIX  the colours that I did have with white and use them to make it fade. I'd looked at tutorials before and they all used a make-up sponge to slowly dab on colour, I understand how easy it is using them is but whenever I do nails it leaves a bumpy surface. Instead I used a cocktail stick. It meant that I had to do quite a bit of mixing but hey.  So I dropped a blob of colour onto a plastic bag and then a few blobs of white and mixed it with a cocktail stick. I have to judge how the ratio I'm mixing as I had to do this a few times.  This was then the lightest shade so I put a thin line of it nearest my cuticle. Then added a small blob of colour to the mixture and put a line of it next to the lightest shade, slightly overlapping. The mixture dries out, so as well as working fast...

Just a thought...

Friday night I was frantically googling nail art ideas, I wanted to try a new technique, after about an hour I gave up. I'd been wanting to try water marbling for ages so I thought, hey what better time then eleven o'clock at night. So I watched a couple of videos of how to do it and prepared myself. I picked up on the fact one girl said  'expensive' nail varnish's work better, I didn't process that and used BarryM... and yep, the girl was right. (not calling BarryM cheap, it's the only nail varnish I use) but I carried on doing my nail nevertheless, picking my most liquid-like varnishes. My thumb and index finger turned out really nicely, I thought and then it went down hill from there... I smudged it, I managed to stab my nail badly with the cocktail stick and the colours looked bad together. In the end it just wasn't working for me and I decided to give in to my exhaustion and sleep.

Welcome

Hello, decided I should make myself an actual blog, that's not so customisable, more sophisticated compared to tumblr, or what tumblr has become. A friend told me I should make one to do with nails as they are a favourite pass time of mine. Instead of catching up with school work and just generally being prepared for my AS exams next month, I seem to feel that I need to have a different design on the ends of my fingertips every week... but oh well. So here's the beginning, there'll probably be more than just nails posted on here. But who knows, it'll change day-to-day like a blog should.  Adiós x
