Fading Nails

FADING NAILS

Yesterday I searched what colours were in, and by the looks of things it's pastel. I don't have many pastel colours or shades so I thought I'd be valiant and MIX the colours that I did have with white and use them to make it fade. I'd looked at tutorials before and they all used a make-up sponge to slowly dab on colour, I understand how easy it is using them is but whenever I do nails it leaves a bumpy surface. Instead I used a cocktail stick. It meant that I had to do quite a bit of mixing but hey.
  • So I dropped a blob of colour onto a plastic bag and then a few blobs of white and mixed it with a cocktail stick. I have to judge how the ratio I'm mixing as I had to do this a few times.
  • This was then the lightest shade so I put a thin line of it nearest my cuticle.
  • Then added a small blob of colour to the mixture and put a line of it next to the lightest shade, slightly overlapping.
  • The mixture dries out, so as well as working fast I had to mix fresh paints regularly.
  • I made another blob mixture remembering the ratio I was at and then added another bit of colour.
  • I kept doing this until the nail was complete.
  • My thumbs do have an obvious sudden jump to different shades. Which is why its important to only add a little colour to the mixture at a time.
  • I didn't even use the primary shade I had brought.
I believe my nails turned out well, and when I try this design again, hopefully I'll be better.

I'd love to know what everyone thinks of my nails, so leave me a comment or link me to something you want me to try.
 Thank you.
